
Ms. Oky Lam is a distinguished Nurse Consultant specializing in Colorectal Care, bringing over 25 years of extensive experience in colorectal surgery. A graduate of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, she is also a Fellow of the Hong Kong College of Surgical Nursing. Currently, she leads the colorectal nursing team under the New Territories East Cluster (NTEC), focusing on colorectal cancer management, bowel function services, and cancer survivorship care.
Ms. Lam has co-authored two influential studies on perioperative care: Electroacupuncture Combined with Fast-Track Perioperative Program for Reducing Duration of Postoperative Ileus and Hospital Stay After Laparoscopic Colorectal Surgery and a related randomized trial. These publications significantly contribute to the field and underscore her commitment to advancing colorectal care practices.
Since the establishment of the Hyperthermic Intraperitoneal Chemotherapy (HIPEC) service at Prince of Wales Hospital in 2019, Ms. Lam has been instrumental in its expansion. She has trained a dedicated HIPEC nurse for cancer care coordination, and preoperative & postoperative management.
Her recent training in the UK in 2023 has enhanced her expertise in Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) strategies, while her experience in pelvic floor disorders in the United States equips her to effectively address complex bowel function and pelvic health issues.
As a leader, Ms. Lam ensures coordinated cancer case management, screening, and service delivery across the cluster. She is committed to improving patient experiences and outcomes through her strategic vision and unwavering dedication to high-quality care.
