Prof. Hye Jin KIM

Prof. Hye Jin Kim is an Associate Professor in the Department of Colorectal Surgery at Kyungpook National University Chilgok Hospital in South Korea. She completed her clinical fellowship at the same institution and has progressed from Assistant Professor to her current associate role. Her advanced training includes a visiting scholar position at the University of California, San Diego. Her clinical and research expertise is focused on minimally invasive techniques for colorectal cancer, with main interests encompassing laparoscopic and robotic colorectal surgery, lateral pelvic node dissection, and image-guided surgery.

She is an active member of several prestigious professional societies, including the Korean Surgical Society, the Korean Society of Coloproctology, and the European Association of Endoscopic Surgery. Prof. Kim has received significant international recognition for her research, notably through awards such as the Karl Stortz-EAES Award, an ESCP-KSCP Traveling Fellowship, the ACPGBI BJS Prize, and the Gerald Marks Rectal Cancer Award from SAGES. Her awarded work consistently addresses technical innovations and quality improvement in complex rectal cancer surgery, particularly in the realm of lateral pelvic node dissection.

In addition to her international accolades, Prof. Kim is a frequently honored presenter within her national academic community. She has received multiple "Best Oral Presentation" and "Best Poster Presentation" awards from the Korean Society of Coloproctology and the Korean Society of Laparoscopic Endoscopic Surgery, underscoring her role as a leading contributor to the field in Korea and internationally.
