Prof. Futaba graduated from Medical School at the University of Birmingham in the United Kingdom. She completed her training in General, Colorectal, and Minimally Invasive Surgery in the UK. She is now an Associate Professor at the Chinese University of Hong Kong and has a specialist interest in minimally invasive colorectal surgery, pelvic floor and inflammatory bowel disease.
Her current research interests are in novel assessments and treatments of functional bowel disorders, minimally invasive treatments for colorectal disease and inflammatory bowel disease. She continues to be actively involved in international collaborative research.
