
Dr. Chu Simon is the Co-Director of the International Colorectal Disease Symposium 2026 in Hong Kong and the President of the Hong Kong Society for Coloproctology. He serves as a Consultant in the Colorectal Surgery Team at Prince of Wales Hospital and as an Honorary Clinical Associate Professor at the Faculty of Medicine, The Chinese University of Hong Kong.
He leads the Cytoreductive Surgery and Hyperthermic Intraperitoneal Chemotherapy (HIPEC) team at Prince of Wales Hospital, one of the two tertiary referral centers in Hong Kong, with expertise in advanced peritoneal surface cancer management. He has delivered invited lectures in Hong Kong and across Asia, including at the 32nd Biennial Congress of International Society of University Colon and Rectal Surgeons & 11th International Colorectal Research Summit, Korea.
He is well experienced in performing minimally invasive / robotic surgery for colorectal cancer. His research focuses on advanced endoscopic colorectal neoplasm resection and multimodal treatment of rectal cancer. His work has been published in “Endoscopy” , “Annals of Oncology” and “ESMO-GI”, with his paper “Prospective single-arm trial on feasibility and safety of an endoscopic robotic system for colonic endoscopic submucosal dissection“ in “Endoscopy” receiving the Most Innovative Paper of the Year in 2024. He also contributes to international research on endoscopic full-thickness resection for rectal neoplasm, the first international multi-center cohort on its feasibility and safety, which was presented at UEG Week 2005.
