
Prof. William Tzu-Liang Chen is a distinguished colorectal surgeon, educator, and healthcare leader currently serving as Superintendent of China Medical University Hsinchu Hospital and Professor of Surgery at China Medical University College of Medicine in Taiwan. He is also the President of the Taiwan Society of Colon & Rectal Surgeons (TSCRS), where he leads national efforts to elevate surgical training, patient safety, and academic collaboration.
Prof. Chen is widely recognized for his expertise in minimally invasive and robotic colorectal surgery, with a focus on total mesorectal excision, TaTME, and AI-assisted outcome prediction. His leadership extends beyond the operating room—he is spearheading a three-year Smart Hospital and AI Transformation Plan at China Medical University Hsinchu Hospital, integrating digital health technologies to enhance quality and efficiency.
Internationally active, Prof. Chen has established collaborative programs with major institutions across Asia, Europe, and North America, promoting cross-regional education and innovation in colorectal surgery.
